ACTOR TOOLKIT - DIRECTIONS & ADVICE

ADVICE to ACTORS

Come to the shoot with a positive attitude and try to stay focused on what you want instead of what you don't want. Feel free to voice your concerns throughout the shoot. I have found the best way to voice concerns is by explaining what you like instead of focusing on what you hate. Make sense?

Arrive as if you were going to an audition. Have a good idea of the part(s) you are trying to book.

Please Don't Wear Sunglasses before our shoot. It will make your eyes more sensitive to the light and you may squint.

Groom accordingly. Pluck those eyebrows, take a bath, brush your teeth, etc.

If you have asked me to schedule my Make-Up Artist, please arrive without any make-up on and with your hair done the way you would have it for an audition. We will make final adjustments to your hair and necessary changes between looks during the shoot.

If you didn't schedule a make-up artist, please come with your hair & make-up done the way you would for an audition. You will have some time for touch ups and changes between looks.

WHAT TO BRING

Wardrobe: Please bring PLENTY of options.

Bring at least 3 different options for each look

(i.e. 3 casual outfits, 3 business outfits, 3 edgy outfits).

Make sure your clothes have been washed, are wrinkle free, and its best if they're on hangers (unless your goal is to look disheveled and sloppy).

Tops - Solid colors work best in my opinion. Layers provide interesting necklines. Bring your favorite tops and jackets. Sometimes stripes, patterns, and logos can be distracting and I'm not a big fan of all white or black outfits. That being said, if you have a black, white, or patterned top that you love or think it would help market you in a particular way, bring it and we'll see how it looks.

If you don't a large wardrobe, and you don't have the money to spare to buy some new outfits, my suggestion would be to go to the store, buy some new clothes, Leave The Tags On It and then return your wardrobe the next day (insert maniacal laughter here). Seriously, A guy once brought $40,000 worth of suits to a shoot and he returned them all the next day.

Pants & Shoes - Bring a pair of comfortable pants and shoes. Most likely we won't be getting your much of your pants in the shots. And it's even less likely we will see your shoes. That being said, if a particular pair of shoes (like high heels for the ladies) helps you feel a certain way, please feel free to bring some options.
