BLAKE GARDNER BIOGRAPHY & DESCRIPTION

Blake Gardner grew up watching his father, a professional portrait, wedding & Vietnam photographer, create classically captivating photojournalistic imagery. Since then, Blake has developed his own ability to capture the true essence of a moment with a clean and classic vibe. With his portrait and editorial work, Blake co-creates a relaxed and enjoyable environment that inspires a spontaneous collaboration between himself and the celebrities, musicians, artists and entrepreneurs he photographs. With a mixture of whimsy, sass and determination he captures an intimate story told within a single engaging photo.

Blake's eco-conscious nature has helped to shape his Fine Art Photography and Mixed Media pieces in a way that conveys the beauty in both the harmony and discord between man and nature. His mixed media artwork is made out of eco-friendly materials. First, his photos are printed on highly renewable Bamboo or Sugar paper and then transferred onto reclaimed materials using Earth Safe Finishes' gel medium. He finishes each piece with ESF's colorants, gels and sealers to add texture and create a vintage feel. To take his eco-mission a step further, whenever a Gallery Wrapped Canvas Print or Mixed Media piece is sold, Blake sponsors the planting of a new tree to help with reforestation efforts and offset carbon emissions.

Artist Statement

"I believe art is a direct reflection of our deepest desires and innermost truth. It acts like a mirror that can show us who we are when we are present and pay attention to how we feel and what we think when we look at it. My overall intention is to bear witness to the truth I see in the moment. I utilize my skills as a photographer to preserve that which presents itself before me, with a faithful and honest image.
